Cat Found 5 Years Later Across Country!

September 15, 2011 — A cat named Willow who went missing from her house in Colorado five years ago was found yesterday … healthy and happy all the way across the country in New York City!

It’s a mystery how Willow got there or what she’s been up to all this time. And Willow’s owners, the Squires family, were shocked to get the call.

They had searched for Willow when she got out of the house in 2006 and put up posters with Willow’s picture on it in case anyone had seen her. But after a while they gave up hope.  With all the wildlife near their Rocky Mountain home, they thought Willow had been eaten by a coyote.

A man in New York City found her on East 20th Street and took the time and care to bring her to an animal shelter. The shelter was able to trace Willow back to her owners because of a microchip that had been implanted in her, identifying the Squires family as her owners.

The Squireses, including two of their kids, now ages 17 and 10, are old enough to remember Willow and are excited to be reunited with her. Hopefully, Roscoe and Zoe, the family’s dogs, will be too!

Boulder to NYC is 1,800 miles ... a 28-hour drive!
