2014 Doodle 4 Google winning art by Audrey Zhang

Doodle 4 Google. Say that fast three times!

Google isn’t just for researching homework. And if you happen to doodle sometimes when you do your homework, you could be in luck!

Google has a contest every year where students of K – 12 submit a doodle, incorporating the word Google. And a theme.

This year’s theme was “If I could invent one thing to make the world a better place…”

The winner, announced Sunday, is 11-year old Audrey Zhang of New York. She doodled an elaborate and colorful water purification system.

She also won a $30,000 scholarship, $50,000 for her school, and $40,000 to be donated to a clean water cause.

There were 50 state winners and 250 state finalists . You can see their amazing work here . They’re worth a look, they’re all really extraordinary.

One Google executive explained, “All engineering, all invention, and all innovation really start with a drawing.”

What would you have doodled to make the world a better place?

If you’d like to enter next year. Make sure to check here around January!
