Lucky Lottery Win!

An 18-year old student about to graduate from high school, and unsure of how he was going to pay for college, bought a $2 scratch-off lottery ticket … and won!

Robert Salo, from Brooklyn, New York, won $1,000 a week for the rest of his life! And now he’ll be able to afford to go to college. His mother, up until now, said they weren’t sure how they were going to be able to pay for it. He says he wants to become an electrical engineer.

Salo said he doesn’t ususally buy lottery tickets but that he had a feeling about this one. “It was like I was in the right place at the right time,” he told the New York Lottery.

His reaction when he found out? “It feels like I’m living in a dream. One minute I’m driving around with my mom and uncle, and the next I’m yelling at them to pull over because I won…!”

Salo is the youngest person to win this lottery (usually you have to be over 18 to play). He is guaranteed a minimum $1 million, but because he’s so young … that $1,000 a week could add up to over $3 million if he lives a nice, long life!

We wish him well in his studies.

What would you do if you got $1,000 every week? (That would be some allowance!). What would you spend it on? Would you save it? Or use it to help others?
