Mysterious 8-foot Lego Man!
Mysterious 8-foot Lego Man!
November 3, 2011 — Of all the treasures that wash up on the beaches, the incredible variety of shells, sand dollars, and sea life … a man walking along a beach in Sarasota, Florida last week discovered … an 8-foot tall “Lego man” floating close to the shore!
Jeff Hindman hauled in and stood up the 100-pound fiberglass figure.
The “Lego man” made quite a “splash” with passersby taking their photos with they mystery man whose front has a grammatically incorrect and rather mysterious statement reading “No Real Than You Are”. His back says “Ego Leonard”, a clue that he is probably the work of a Dutch artist who seems to use that name.
The “Lego man” attracted lots of TV and newspaper attention but this isn’t the first time it’s happened. A few similar “Lego men” washed ashore a few years ago in the UK and Holland. But no one has admitted to placing this “Lego man” in the Gulf of Mexico … or said why. Whoever it was seems to be enjoying the mystery surrounding it.
For now, the “Lego man” is in police “custody” with the regular lost and found until either it’s claimed or they can figure out what to do with it, possibly display it publicly, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office website. It could also possibly go to the finder, Mr. Hindman. Where could it turn up next? Maybe eBay!
