Tilting Tower

If you’re afraid of heights, this might not be the story for you.

Starting this weekend, you’ll be able to look down from 94 stories up, over 1,000 feet, and see 50 miles out over Chicago. And it’s not just by looking out the window of a tall building.

It’s by leaning on a special set of 8 windows at the 360 CHICAGO Observatory  … and then hold on tight (or for dear life) as you tilt down 30 degrees over the street below. Yikes!

It’s an architectural achievement that’s believed to be the first of its kind.

How does it work? With the help of hydraulics. You can read more about how hydraulic systems work at this “How Stuff Works” link  or this video  that explains the basic concept.

It only costs $5 for the experience, and while some people are excited for the thrill, others say you couldn’t pay them to do it. For those people, it probably doesn’t help that Chicago is known as the Windy City.
